Our Product Range Includes

These are designed and manufactured in a precise manufacturing process involving high metallurgical and machinery accuracy for optimized functionality and longevity. These rolling mill rolls are critical in steel production and affect the quality and costs of steel production.

The Steel Rolling Mill Rolls Production Process

The process of the manufacturing of the rollers at Vimco Rolls Industries, we follows a step by step and closely regulated procedure, starting from the selection of the raw materials until the dispatching of the rollers for inspection at the India steel rolling mills.

1. Raw Material Selection

The beginning of the process entails ensuring the selection and separation of high-grade materials for making rolls. These materials are selected on the basis of chemical composition and mechanical properties, and such materials are also selected depending on the roll’s operational requirements regarding hot and cold rolling.

2. Furnace Process/Liquidification

The chosen raw materials are then loaded into the Digital Steel Melting Shop, where they are heated in high-efficiency furnaces until they are in a fully liquid state. The furnace stage is where the metal is purified and ensured to be homogeneous so that it has uniform metal qualities. The metal is then in a molten state.

3. Ingot Casting

Following refining, the molten steel is poured into ladles and then cast into ingots through controlled casting processes. This ingot casting process is where the molten metal is molded into a solid form in the shape of ingots that will serve as the initial stock for the rolls made on rolling mills, with attention to temperatures to reduce internal stresses in the ingots formed.

4. Primary Shaping and Billet Preparation

These solidified ingots can be processed for making billets or preforms that can be used for making rolls. By hot working and preliminary machining processes, these ingots can be developed into cylindrical billets that possess enhanced strength before being subjected to refinement processes like electrolytic slag remelting for certain higher grades of rolls.

5. Precision Rolling and Machining of the Roll Body

The prepared billets are next processed in the machining and forming stage of the production cycle. In this stage, they undergo turning and forming on CNC lathes as well as other precision machinery in order to produce the desired roll shape. Currently, at this stage of production, the rolling mill rolls that will be used in the manufacturing plant take shape.

6. Heat Treatment and Enhancement of Properties

Following machining, the partially finished rolls are moved into heat treatment furnaces for processes such as hardening, tempering, and differential hardening of the barrel and neck areas in some cases. This stage is critical for ensuring thatrolls attain the specified hardness, wear resistance, and toughness, enabling them to withstand conditions in steel rolling mills in India and abroad that include high loads and temperatures.

7. Final Inspection and Finishing

Each roll then undergoes an inspection process that entails checking the size, checking the hardness in certain areas of the roll, and inspection for microstructure if needed. Surface finishing, grinding, and balancing of the rolls follow to ensure that the rolls rotate in accurate manners to allow for high-speed rotation and that the surface of rolled products comes out defect-free. Only then do the rolls qualify for the next step.

8. Dispatch of Finished Rolls

The rolling mill rolls that have been completely finished and inspected for quality purposes are carefully packed for dispatch. During this process, documents and certificates necessary for the rolls are also provided for use in ensuring the steel rolling mills systems installed in India and other countries with this equipment are fully functional.

The Importance of Rolling Mill Rolls in Steel Rolling Mills

In a rolling mill, the thickness of the metal stock is reduced and it is shaped by passing it between a pair of rotating rollers. The function of the rolling mill rolls is mainly being the active pressure elements causing the flow of metal and are used for producing ingots or steel pieces of precise dimension from steel. The metal is compressed to a size smaller than its actual size while retaining the same volume; this increases its strength properties.

Steel rolling mills in India depend to a large extent on the quality of rolling mill rolls, as these rolls have a direct effect on the efficiency of the rolling process. The rolls could be made in such a way as to produce a whole range of products such as structural components, beams, bars, wire rods, sheets, and strips. High speed steel rolls, as the name suggests, possess excellent wear resistance properties, thereby having longer lives in relation to conventional rolls.

Our Services to Steel Rolling Mills in India and Internationally

As a proud supporter of steel rolling mills in India, we serve critical industries like infrastructure development, construction, automotive, and other major industries. Our primary focus is to ensure the supply of rolling mill rolls that enhance performance efficiency, boost product quality, and meet performance demands.
